Studying the Method: Bodybuilding Books

July 6th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Every sport has its theories. The methods behind the madness, the meanings behind the actions. While learning from a coach is good, reading up on the history of the sport is even better; sometimes the intellectual undertones of a sport hide the secrets of success. But books have practical uses as well; books are more than words. They are diagrams and lists, contact information and plans. While acting out moves is necessary in any sport, discovering what to act out is even more important, and this is information books can easily provide.

Bodybuilding books are especially useful as power lifting is a sport not very widely known. Why any kid can go down to the local part and shoot around or hit fly balls, that same kid would have a lot of difficulty going to the local gym to pack on the muscle. Bodybuilding requires specific exercises, specific nutrition and specific knowledge, all things that bodybuilding books can readily provide. Beginners especially have a lot to learn even before they hit the gym; they cannot simply mimic the other guys or girls they see doing squats or pumping iron on the bench press. Such rash behavior can lead to injury and even to the loss of muscle. Beyond a doubt, all bodybuilders, especially beginners, can benefit from the hints and tips included in bodybuilding books.

Behind the Words

Bodybuilding books provide a lot of information necessary to get started in the sport. They contain lists of exercises and the order in which they should be done, including the number of sets, repetitions, weights and daily breakdowns. Aside from exercise schedules, they also provide nutritional schedules, not just what to eat and when to eat it, but how to eat it. Proteins and carbohydrates are a bodybuilder’s fuel, but there are times to eat them, and times not to eat them. A mistake in nutrition can be as disastrous as a mistake in lifting.

All of this information is crucial for a beginner, but bodybuilding books are useful to experts as well. While champion lifters may not need to be told what to eat and what to lift, they do want to be kept up-to-date on new equipment, new competitions, new supplements and new theories in the sport. Maybe an exercise physiologist has discovered a new way to increase metabolism, or to quicken the rate of muscle synthesis. Only with bodybuilding books can an athlete become aware of these developments; otherwise, he or she will continue lifting, disconnected from the bodybuilding world, never truly reaching his or her potential.

Bodybuilding Diets Are Not About Eating Fewer Calories

July 6th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

The main aim that every bodybuilder has in mind when considering choosing proper bodybuilding diets, is that the diet they choose should help to build more muscle while at the same time remove fat from the body. What’s more, such diets in most instances will mean eating plenty of proteins and carbohydrates as well as limiting fat consumption to the recommended percentage of a total diet. As a matter of fact, under normal circumstances such a diet would mean consuming forty percent protein accompanied by thirty percent carbohydrates and also taking thirty percent of fat.

Getting Fueled Up To Exercise

The fact is that with proper bodybuilding diets, bodybuilders are assured of getting the required fuel to keep up their energy levels and to help them to complete recommended body building routines. It also means not scrimping on calories since most workouts are going to involve heavy amount of work which in turn will require getting energy from the right numbers of calories.

You can mix bodybuilding diets with cardio workouts, especially in the mornings and then supplement your dietary intake with eating the whites of eggs, oat meals and plenty of proteins. Furthermore, you need to ensure that your bodybuilding diets is consumed in small meals rather than one or more large meals which is what most Americans are used to doing. In addition, proper bodybuilding diets also mean spacing each meal evenly during the day so that the muscles get plenty of fuels.

What’s more, bodybuilding diets does not necessarily mean that you have to make drastic cuts in calorie intakes though at the same time it does mean having to workout strenuously in a gym in order to burn up the calories. In any case, the better bodybuilding diets consist of the proper ratio of carbohydrates, protein, and fat as well accompanying the food intake with weigh lifting exercises.

Some people even go as far as choosing an Atkins diet or even a South Beach Diet that are much like normal bodybuilding diets though less rigid as far as ratio of protein to carbohydrates to fat go, and you also don’t require exercising should you choose these alternate diets.

You may even want to choose taking natural bodybuilding diets that don’t require taking of any supplements though to get best results from a natural diet, you need to do a lot of training that can include doing an hour of weight training every alternate day in the week and also doing cardiovascular exercise for between twenty to forty-five minutes twice or four times in a week.

Thus, it is more than controlling what you eat because good bodybuilding diets also mean doing plenty of hard exercising in order to build better muscles and also eliminate unwanted body fats.

Keyword: body building products

Tools of the Trade: Body Building Products

In a sense, bodybuilding is a sport that can be performed free of equipment. Any athlete can drop and pump out push ups, or perform pull ups or chin ups on a tree branch or on a piece of playground equipment. Dips can be done with the use of a chair, bed, rock, fence, desk or any other hard item. However, if bodybuilders wish to succeed in their sport, and wish to win championships and become an example of elite physique, body building products are a must. However, while some are beneficial, others can be equally counterproductive.

Toning and Defining

Some of the most popular body building products are weights. Weights can come as free-moving products, and they can come as entire machines. Some machines mimic the movements of free weights while others are cable systems, allowing for the user to get a free range of motion and engage various muscles simultaneously. While beginner bodybuilders should always work with their own body weight first, focusing on push ups and pull ups, weights are useful when body weight just is not enough anymore. Bodybuilders who desire to achieve the epitome of muscle definition and fitness will want to engage these body building products to gain the most resistance possible.

Other popular body building products are supplements. Dietary supplements, such as proteins and vitamins, help the bodybuilder achieve the necessary nutritional balance for muscle growth. The body needs enough energy to fuel the workout, but not too many carbohydrates to be stored as fat. Enough protein must also be consumed in order for the body to build muscle. Body fat percentages must be kept at a low through cardiovascular exercise, but enough calories must be consumed to work through the entire training session. Body building products help bodybuilders when food may not offer enough options.

While dietary supplements are legal, other body building products are not. Performance enhancement supplements, such as steroids and human growth hormones, are illegal. They provide competitors with an unfair advantage by aiding in muscle growth in an unnatural way. With these chemicals, bodybuilders are able to build large amounts of muscle mass, more than can be achieved through weight training alone. These body building products pose serious risks, however, and even death, and they are banned for a reason. Sadly, many professional competitions look the other way and continue to allow their athletes to use and abuse these supplements, putting both the individuals and the entire sport at risk.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Body Building Training

July 3rd, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

It seems that most every serious bodybuilder finds it necessary to choose his or her own special body building training program. There is no harm in this because different training programs will give different results, and what works for one bodybuilder may not work for another. A different factor that makes it difficult to pinpoint just one body building training program as being the best for every bodybuilder, is that there are thousands of types that you can try out. Although, with a little more research you will find that there are just a few essential steps that a good body building training program must include.

Be Absolutely Clear About The Purpose For Which You Are Training

First off, you need to have a clear goal in mind with regard to the purpose of your body building training routine. Thus, once you enter a gym you need to be absolutely clear as to what you intend on achieving and also how you intend to achieve your goals, including how much weight you should lift and what the number of reps are that you will have to beat.

Second off, you need to be in a ‘warrior’ state of mind when approaching your body building training routine and also be prepared to indulge in weight training of a very high intensity because that is essential if you want to achieve a better body.

Next, you need to be focused on pre-gym workout nutrition for your body building training and thus you should always consume tiny amounts of complex carbohydrates as well as proteins about two hours prior to getting started with your workout routine.

Another small detail that you should not overlook is to keep a log of your workouts because this is the most effective means of charting your progress and also giving you more options with which to improve your overall body building training.

Also, once you are in the gym for your body building training, you need to forget all about socializing and instead, concentrate all your energies in doing your workouts. The gym is really no place to make friends and your time here should be devoted only to working out.

Another important aspect to correct body building training is using only those routines and principles that have been proven to be effective. You also need to also steer clear of unsolicited though well meaning advice from every budding and average Joe bodybuilder.

You also need to ensure that you don’t fall into the trap of overtraining which is a common fault that many aspiring bodybuilders make. So as soon as you are through with your training routine, you should pack up and head home and try and avoid doing one more set because that can prove to be detrimental to your training rather than being an aid.

Finally, you need to learn how to recover from your exertions and also take an appropriate bodybuilding nutritious diet. By following these simple guidelines, you should get the desired results while also ensuring that you are following the proper training steps.

So You Want To Compete In Bodybuilding Competitions?

July 3rd, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

If you’re an up and coming bodybuilder and you hope to compete in bodybuilding competitions, you are going to have to push yourself so that you stand out from the competition. When it comes to bodybuilding competitions, all of those bodybuilders on stage begin to look alike after a while. There are those one or two competitors, however, that truly stand out. These competitors have pushed themselves harder, they have made more severe sacrifices, and it shows. If you hope to be one of those that stand out in a bodybuilding competition, you have your work cut out for you. The first thing you have to do is learn from the best.

Read And Absorb

To make it in bodybuilding competitions, you are going to have to study from the masters. Study the ticks and techniques from previous bodybuilding competition champions. See what worked for them. What exercises did they do? What did they eat? How often did they train? What sorts of machines or free weights did they use? By absorbing as much as you can from these previous bodybuilding competition champions, you can gain the knowledge you need to push yourself above and beyond the competition.

Motivation

To compete in bodybuilding competitions, and to place or win, you have to have complete, unwavering motivation. You can’t have those days when you feel like not working out. You have to go full steam all the time. Of course you also need your rest, but when it comes to working out, you can’t afford to be lazy. Therefore, you have to find out what motivates you. Try posting pictures around your house or workout area of previous bodybuilding competition champions. Or, try listening to some music while you work out that really seems to motivate you. You are working towards a goal of winning a bodybuilding competition and that’s going to take a lot of hard work and dedication. So find that motivation and push yourself as hard as you can.

Get Adequate Rest

Your muscles grow when you are resting, not while you’re working out. So, while you must push yourself hard, you must also know when to rest. So get plenty of sleep at night, and you’ll find yourself ready to go the next morning for another grueling workout. Just remember, the pushing of your body to it’s fullest potential is only temporary until you reach your goal. So push as hard as you can, rest as much as you can and you’ll soon see that you’ll place or even win your very first bodybuilding competition.

Do You Need Body Building Sports Supplements?

June 30th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Most bodybuilders are in the sport to compete. They want to get on stage with their well formed muscles and win trophies and admiration for all their hard work and dedication. If you haven’t yet reached a competing level yet, it’s time to get started. Bodybuilding takes a long time to achieve. It takes hard work, dedication and self discipline. But it also requires a few body building sports supplements. Most of the bodybuilders you see on stage are using one or more body building sports supplements. They’re using protein powders, creatine, multi vitamins, amino acids, fat burners and probably a number of others. Ask any bodybuilder what they’re using to achieve such impressive physiques and you’ll probably get a long list. Of course they are also getting their protein and other nutrients from massive amounts of food, but it’s the body building sports supplements that pushes them above and beyond the competition.

Health Food Stores

Walk into any health food store and ask the clerk about body building sports supplements and you’ll probably be faced with many options. If you’re just starting out, be careful about loading up on body building sports supplements. When you’re just starting out in bodybuilding, you should see results just from the foods you eat and the workouts you perform. However, when you reach a sticking point, where you just don’t seem to be getting any bigger, that’s when you might want to consider a few body building sports supplements. When just starting out, though, you can’t go wrong with some protein powder, which will give you your allotted protein for the day, creatine, which will make your muscles look larger and will also allow you to lift heavier, a good multi vitamin and that’s it. You can get all of these from your local health food store.

More Advanced Bodybuilders

If you’re an advanced bodybuilder and you’re looking to gain that edge over the competition, that’s when you might want to look into body building sports supplements that will give you those freaky looking muscles that win trophies. There are legal forms of steroids that will give you the testosterone boost to build the kind of physique that will win bodybuilding competitions. There are body building sports supplements of all types for advanced bodybuilders but you might want to read a few reviews on them to see if they’ve given other people results. Just remember, there are no magic pills when it comes to bodybuilding. Even though you use body building sports supplements, you still must work hard and put in the dedication that this type of sport requires.
